Considerate Constructors Scheme
What is the scheme?
Construction sites, companies and suppliers voluntarily register with the Scheme and agree to abide by the Code of Considerate Practice, designed to encourage best practice beyond statutory requirements.
As a voluntarily registered site, we at South Quay Plaza are committed to minimising the negative impact of all construction operations and having a positive effect on the local area. We are tirelessly working on keeping our workforce and the public safe and well-informed, as well as implementing innovative methods to minimise our impact on the environment and local residents.
We all at South Quay Plaza:
- Care about Appearance
- Respect the Community
- Protect the Environment
- Secure everyone's Safety
- Value our Workforce
The presentation of South Quay Plaza is very importance to us. We conduct weekly hoarding inspections and have a dedicated smoking area, within the perimeter of the site. Even areas not in public view are kept tidy and organised. If you don't believe us, there is a 'Take a look' window in our hoarding just behind the Tesco - feel free to have a look for yourself! All vehicles exiting site are wheel washed to ensure that minimal amounts of debris are taken out onto the road.
We always do our best to respect the community and keep everyone updated with site progress and upcoming works. We do this in a number of ways, including regularly updating our notice boards and organising frequent residents consultation evenings. Contact details are available on our Contact Us page, as well as displayed on a few location around the site. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
We are very serious about protecting the environment and minimising our carbon footprint. We promote the importance of sustainable travel on our Anomaly screen, have monthly sustainability reviews and a number of Berkeley staff will be attending Spill Response Training. We are also always looking at innovative ways to construct SQP, including using a barge for the majority of our muckaway, opting for bathroom pods at SQP1 and a pre-fabricated steel frame for our Sales & Marketing Suite. We have even planted raspberries at our project office!
There is nothing more important to us than ensuring everyone gets home safe every single day. We have protected and controlled access onto site, with numerous traffic marshals navigating traffic and ensuring adequate segregation between vehicles and pedestrians. We consistently consult with our workforce to ensure no-one's safety is compromised. We also continuously train our workforce to ensure everyone has the knowledge and competency to perform their task safely.
We care and value our workforce and aim to provide everyone at South Quay Plaza with a supporting and caring working environment. We have organised fortnightly GP visits to site and we use our Anomaly screen to provide healthy lifestyle advice and to outline occupational health risks. We have organised a number of social events for our workforce, including BBQ's and evenings out at the local pub. We have a number of apprentices currently on site and we are happy to organise site visits to encourage new people into the industry.
